A City Shaped by the Arts

Murals, music, and creative spaces
2 minutes in read

West Palm Beach pulses with creativity โ€” from sweeping murals in neighborhood corners to the soulful sounds of live music and hidden galleries that elevate every block. For residents, exploring our arts scene isnโ€™t just about taking in beauty: itโ€™s about discovering your place in a city thatโ€™s built on expression.

Murals That Tell Our Story

Our public art landscape is vibrant and ever evolving thanks to the City of West Palm Beachโ€™s public art program. Its interactive public art map makes it easy to explore installations across different neighborhoods โ€” from sculptures to bold wall paintings. Use it to explore via the cityโ€™s Collection Connection program, a collaboration with the Mandel Public Library with mediations for both adults and children to consider while exploring the cityโ€™s art.

One especially striking piece is the newly completed โ€œColor Field of Northwood,โ€ an eight-story mural by local artist Renee Phillips. This is the tallest mural in WPB โ€” a radiant symbol of community, nature, and the coastal energy of Northwood Village.

Also worth seeking out is Narcissus Way by Ouiziโ€ in an alley, tucked between Banyan Blvd. and Olive Avenue just behind Clematis Street.

Donโ€™t forget to check out the calendar of events at The Peach, an art collective featuring six art studios, a gallery, monthly art walks, live entertainment, classes and more.

So, whether youโ€™re strolling through a city garage, Northwood, or hidden alleyways downtown, thereโ€™s a story waiting on every wall.

Live Music & Performing Arts

Art in West Palm Beach isnโ€™t confined to paint and stone โ€” itโ€™s alive and dynamic. One of the best ways to tap into that vibrancy is through Art After Dark, the Norton Museum of Artโ€™s weekly Friday event.

From 5 PM to 10 PM, you can enjoy docent-led gallery tours, open-studio art workshops, film screenings, and live performances (think music, spoken word, dance). On jazz Fridays, jazz musicians from across South Florida bring their sound to the Nortonโ€™s galleries.

One cannot overlook the Cityโ€™s free and family friendly events including Clematis at Night, Sundays on the Waterfront, and Soul in the City Jazz Experiences, as well as award-winning theater at Dramaworks and entertainment at the Kravis Center for Performing Arts.

These evenings are a wonderful way to connect โ€” not just with art, but with fellow residents and creatives.

For newcomers, the arts are more than a destination โ€” theyโ€™re a way into the soul of West Palm Beach. Our creative spaces are deeply woven into the neighborhoods youโ€™ll come to call home. Whether you’re walking through a mural-laden alley or winding down with live music, the experiences you encounter help anchor you in this place.

Public art isnโ€™t just on display โ€” itโ€™s meant to spark conversation, foster belonging, and celebrate the diversity of culture here.

Welcome to a city where every street corner, every skyline, has a story to tell โ€” and where youโ€™re already part of the next chapter.
